Liberation at LUSU
Learn more about how we represent and advocate for marginalised groups within our student community.
As a students’ Union, we’re passionate about advocating for the needs of our students, and the things you’re passionate about. Our Liberation Groups are key to this work.
They represent our students as well as providing a community for those who self-identify within marginalised groups. You can learn about the different groups here!

The Accessibility Community is LUSU’s representative, community body for disabled students. They will often host events, and run campaigns for the students within the community to get involved in. All self-identified disabled students at Lancaster Uni are welcome to join and take part.
The Community is run by a number of people:
President: Oversees the work of the Community
Vice-President: Helps with the President’s Responsibilities
Political Lead: Attends Union Assembly and acts as the primary voice of the community
General Executive Members: Undertake tasks to keep the community running like events planning and social media

For all self-defining Ethnic Minority students, the BAME Committee is here to represent you academically, socially, and further. They work throughout the year to provide support and community to students through events, campaigns, and even a new podcast!
The BAME Committee don’t run official elections for their roles. Instead, they look for volunteers to work as:
Chairperson
General Secretary
Networking Officer
